About the role: 

Lower Murray Water has an exciting opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and Strategic Planning experience. In this role you will be a member of the Infrastructure Planning Team working to support a $800M asset base and to plan and design for the next generation of infrastructure to meet the service requirements of our customers. 

You will assist the Team Leader Strategic Planning in providing direction and guidance on best asset selection and planning options and will contribute to wider organisational Capital Works strategy, prioritisation and budget estimations. 

Your duties will include planning for renewals, upgrading and decommissioning of Lower Murray Water assets, as well as critical analysis and review of strategies, masterplans and designs to offer strategic direction for LMW’s services, now and into the future.

Based in our Mildura Office in Victoria’s northwest, you will lead the strategic planning functions across our service area requiring some travel to Swan Hill and Kerang.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Lead the capital works project identification, assessment and prioritisation along with the planning and prioritisation of new capital works as identified.
  • Lead the development and management of the 10-year capital works plan.
  • Lead with development of capital expenditure projects and programs including asset renewal and replacement programs.
  • Provide design and planning support for the development of water, wastewater and rural Strategies which underpin the preparation of Master Plans.
  • Provide capital planning oversight to the minor capital works programs.
  • Contributing to a safety orientated culture and ensuring the safety and quality of execution activities.

About you:

We require a self-motivated people who are safety conscious looking to work in a fast-paced team environment. To be successful in these roles, you would ideally have some of the following. 

  • Experience in strategic planning or asset management to drive the development and implementation of business cases and strategies for the future capital expenditure and pricing paths at LMW.
  • Experienced engineer with experience in strategic planning, asset management and capital works planning & prioritisation 
  • An analytical thinker with experience in delivering innovative technical solutions and an eye for detail
  • Good communication skills and an ability to manage multiple stakeholders 
  • Understanding of how you work in a safe and effective manner
